• BEGINNERS RESOURCES FOR TAI CHI
  NOTE: Don't even consider trying to learn tai chi or qigong, without a teacher, unless you have purchased a video or DVD!!! (of course, having a qualified teacher who can give corrections and encouragement, is the best...)
  A combination of solid foundations and good ol' pep talk is great for tai chi beginners. A great foundation book for history, theory, and solid foundation of a classical Yang-style barehand solo form and some qigong is the following material by my teacher, Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming:

A strong suggestion is that you buy the book and either the video or DVD that accompanies the text... they complement each other well, and the combination is a must! (The DVD is newer and has A LOT of additional material that the video does not have... like a live lecture given by Yang, Jwing-Ming on tai chi philosophy)

•  For a "feel good" American-style Intro book to tai chi and qigong, see Bill Douglas', "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Tai Chi and Qigong" This book is in its second edition and there are many things that are explained in plain English... great for beginners!!! This book teaches Kuang Ping Tai Chi, a fairly rare form that has it's biggest following on the West Coast:
